BASS, TROUT, STRIPER, DRUM, PICKERAL

This past monday took a charter from little washingto, nc. We fished in the Neuse River and Trent river. Most of you know if you live in this area that the majority of the Neuse is salt water and the Trent river is fresh water. That being said, we fished right in new bern where both rivers meet. Started off fishing the bridges, throwing rattle traps and fin-s on 1/4 ounce gig heads, caught three stripers right away, fish were between 18-21 inches. Pounded both sides of the bridges, all of three of them with no other results. Worked up the neuse a bit and caught a couple of specs and one more striper........ok, but not what I was looking for. So fished back down to new bern and up the trent,......we got about 1/2 mile or so up the river and came across a rip crossing the river. The water went from normal neuse river brown to normal trent river black, but clear! Eased the trolling motor over and started plugging throughout the change. WHAMMMO. Large mouth bass, pickeral, stripers, red drum and speckled trout. Caught mostly everything on fin-s baits on the gig head, did catch one of the bass and two more stripers on rattle traps though. We fished that same change for about three hours with steady results. Prettly cool fishing I must say coming from a bluewater fisherman at heart. Thanks, Capt. Brian.
