Any info on Jekyell Island, Georgia

The Fam and I are making a trip down to Florida for a Soccer tournament. We are planning on making a stop in Jeckell Island GA for Chrismas. I am looking for things to do for the Family. There are 3 avid fishermen and one mom/wife, any information would be awsome. We are looking to do a little inshore fishing.

I did a gig at the federal training center in the 80's right near there. We rented a bare boat ( 20' mako ) and picked up some spoons. We trolled the beach front and found some steep shoals. Every pass was a jack or blue runner. The boat had a flasher depth finder and a compass....I had no maps That is why we stayed close. On the way in we trolled the sea buoys and a smoker lifted our lures from us. 4 hour boat ride and fun in the sun. A change from the training base daily activities. One thing I remember was a chilled seafood salad on the boardwalk. It had shrimp, fish chunks ( I do not know what kind ), cream cheese, lettuce, cherry tomatoes, feta cheese and a spice that would sing to you. There are some great stories and history of Jekyll's Island and St. Simmons Island. In the early days when the rich used the island as a vacation retreat and the war was erupting. The wealthy families had to split the time on the island. The economy was floundering and our government did not want multiple wealthy businessmen becoming a target of the u boats. The two Islands are filled with History. Mucho money walked there in the "Club House" days. You will have a great vacation. Many things to see and do....and eat Oh the food, shrimp, fish, hush puppies I can smell in the air......
