Hey Folks, Sorry for the delay in the fishing reports, but I have been extremely busy fishing and haven't had time to write. So here is what's been happening. Fished in the Capt. Eddie Haneman Sailfish Tournament July 15th and 16th with my friends John, Randy and Jay aboard John's boat "Reel E Keen". I think there were 46 boats entered in the tournament and six Sailfish caught and released in two days of fishing. Fishing for us wasn't so great, but we did managed to catch a few dolphin, barracuda, and had one shot at a Sail, but couldn't get a hook-up. Congratulation to John Boy of the John Boy and Billy Big Show and the "Duh huh" fishing team on winning the event. I would personally like to give a big hand of applause to all of the winning boats who so graciously gave all of their winnings back to the Bailey Foundation to help young Bailey fight a rare Kidney disease and help with the cost of his Kidney transplant that he will be receiving. It makes me feel really good about the fisherman in our community to know that they care about the young ones. Bailey, our prayers are with you and get well soon. July 22-23 As for this past weekend, well, it was a busy one. Friday I had the pleasure of taking my two little cousins from Florida fishing. Well, we didn't have the best of days fishing, but we had a great time hanging out and taking a long boat ride together. Christian and Kyle were a pleasure to be with and we got to spend some quality time on the water. Saturday was a different story. Took my 1st cousin Tony (Christian and Kyle's Dad), and his sister-in-law's boyfriend Bob out for a full day of fishing. Now Tony is an ex-Disney Animator who now works for E.A Sports and the person who designed my logo. This was our first fishing trip together since he designed my logo, so I owed him some good fishing, and I came through. Though the morning bite was slow, the afternoon picked up and Tony hooked up with this nice King Mackerel that went well over 30lbs, his biggest King to date. Bob managed to catch a smaller King and several short grouper that we released, as well as some nice Pink Snapper. Picked up a Dolphin and another King on a light line while bumping the bottom. Overall, it was a great day and the ocean couldn't have been any prettier than it was on Saturday. Good job guys, can't wait to do it again. Sunday, July 24, 2005 Had a half day with Jeff and his sons Jon and Patrick from Connecticut on board. The wind switched out of the NE over night and the ocean was a little bumpy, but we still managed to catch some nice Spanish Mackerel. Jon and Patrick were real troopers and did an excellent job reeling in those Spanish Mackerel. We stopped to fish some docks on the way in, but didn't have any luck. Thanks again guys, it was a pleasure to have you aboard. That about catches us up with what's been happening. The Kings and Spanish seem to be slowing down a bit with all this hot weather, but the bottom feeders seem to be picking up. The nearshore Flounder bite should start going off any day now. I hope to try it real soon and will keep you updated. Sorry for the long delay in reports. Capt. Brent |
