The South Atlantic Fishery Management Council is currently soliciting applicants for the following positions:
Open Position: Social Scientist – Conducts social impact assessments, fishery impact statements and assists with analyses of socio-economic data related to fishery management actions and development of appropriate documents, including fishery management plans/amendments and environmental impact statements. Incumbent is expected to present analyses to various groups (e.g., fishermen, scientists, advisory panels, and Council members). Compiles and analyzes social, anthropological, socio-economic, and other data.
Open Position: Fishery Biologist – Represents the Council at Southeast Data Assessment and Review (SEDAR) workshops and provides staff support to the Council’s Scientific and Statistical Committee and other technical committees or advisory panels as directed. Evaluates management alternatives for Council fishery management plans and presents findings to the Council and associated committees. Compiles and analyzes biological, fishery, or other technical data related to the Council’s management program, and presents findings to Council members advisory panel members, SSC members, and the public as necessary.
