As a mate I get paid 12% of the trip plus tips plus I charge a little to clean the fish, so on average I earn around $200 on a 10 hr trip. But to me its not about the money, its about the kid that catches his (or her) first sport fish and the look on the guys face when he fights his heart out for a fish that he has never caught and only eaten in a resturant. Personnaly the pay is a bonus, I just love to fish!

Man I seen a bunch of things.. That expense thing is what kills you, just make sure its a good captain and he will hook you up, if your a worthy mate. If not, to bad. Bottom line you worth-you make loot.
