IT SOUNDS LIKE A GOOD PLAN BUT IT WOULD NOT DO ANY GOOD IT WOULD BE MORE OF A WASTE. 35 DOLLERS IS ALOT OF MONEY TO THE PEOPLE THEY HAVE WORKING FOR THEM. HACKERS WHO NEVER FISHED BEFORE AND THEIR FAMILY TREE GOES STRIGHT UP IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN.

$35 a day is pretty disgusting, down right robbery plus taking your tips. I worked in Barnegat Light, NJ on the party and charter boats for 5 years in the summer and weekends while is HS and college. The last year was 2002 and I was getting $70 a day on part boats and averaging $70-$90 in tips, some days less and somedays alot more. The old man made sure to alert people to the tipping of mates over the intercom which made a huge difference. If you are interested in work the Canyon Runner is looking to hire 2 mates and they are accepting applications.

Alots been said already, I do agree a mate can do well if he presents himself well. But now to the question, I've been in this postion, going rate used to be $1000 a foot per year (61' = 61000 yearly salary) plus the crew divides 40% percent of winnings net not gross, never won though. We were all captains and all mates, most of all we were a team making the same.

Sunbeam, Sorry to hear you got cornholed by such a shotty operation.
During my college years in Newport, RI, I work for the Frances Fleet in Point Judith. They paid $100 + tips for canyon overnight trips and $50+ tips for nightime bass trips. Tips fluctuated with the level fishing, but I never walked away without a couple hundred bucks in my pocket. Beyond the money they were a team to fish with. Finding good gigs can be a bit of journey, but if you put your dues in good gigs come to good mates so dont give up.
