Captians and mates in Texas are also reading this thread! Let's clarify what happened in Texas. You arrived running your mouth and left with your tail tucked between your legs! You were FIRED from both gigs and will probably never work on a boat in the gulf again! I would not try LA....you will end up in a pot of gumbo! You had an extremely great opportunity on the first boat and lasted one week on the other. Both captians you tried to work for have more knowledge and time than most in the industry....and you blew it!

In this economy a 20 year old with a high school education complaining about money while almost half of the american workforce is out of work and scratching to survive....damn that makes me mad!

I just read this. I can't believe you got a chance with JT... Man how I would kill for an opportunity like that, and I am sure many others would too. JT if you ever need a young guy that loves to fish, can handle the madness let me know! Us Canadians are born ready

I have been checking out this thread and list here for a few months, and can't believe you would do this to yourself. Take Jay's advice and zip the lip.

I would have killed to be your age and have the opportunities you've had. Having fished with Jay, both as a customer, and as a peer ( if I could even say that), along with a few of his mates and other people in the fishing community, I relish any day spent fishing with true Hatteras Captains and mates. To have them give you a chance to keep your mouth shut and still be willing to give you advice and/or work, is testament to their class and caliber.

Also,ditch the internet jargon and shortucts when advertising yourself for hire; it makes things hard to read and is not a good image to present to potential employers.

Lastly, I write this as a licensed Captain who fishes in DE and OCMD, words travel far on the web and you never know who is reading it.

Well, I have been sitting back watching this thread for some time. I know of several other Hatteras Captains that are watching it too.

Gerred, you were lucky enough to have grown up in Hatteras, most of us have not been so fourtunate. You have had opportunities to fish and prove yourself by your actions.

Had you played your cards right and proven yourself locally you would be working here and earning good money.

Frankly, you are misrepresenting yourself to the world wide fishing community and in your travels and posts giving the professional fisherman of Hatteras a Bad Name.

You need to shut up, and prove yourself.

You always seem to have an excuse for quitting or not sticking with a fishing opportunity.

Show me dont tell me.

I think you could possibly be a decent mate someday, but you need to loose the know it all attitude, shut up, listen and learn, most people know more than you.

The more you post and respond on here, the worse you look.

I've been away from this thread for awhile and just recently it was brought back to my attention by some fellow hatteras fishermen. I'm sorry to see that someone from hatteras has represented themselves and the village this way and its time for this thing to die. Just let it go, regroup and try to start fresh. No need for this trainwreck of a posting to continue, Gerrad. This isn't the kind of attention that is going to land you a decent gig nor is anyone going to want to help you find one. Pick your battles, this one is over and done with.
