Gerrad,
I have stood by and watched you for the past 2 years, trying to find a job, trying this and trying that. Here on Sportfisherman.com and else where. I have seen you come around the dock, making excuses of why you are not fishing here, there and now everywhere. Why you left Mexico. Why you left Texas. I have tried to advise you and help you out, help you to establish who you are, and what you want to be by talking to you behind my boat at the dock, telling you to get a job in Hatteras, pay your dues, earn trust and be honest. And now I have seen you misrepresent the Hatteras charter fleet as a whole, with your online thread. And I am pretty upset about it now. I certainly hope you do not think that none of the charter fleet captains do not look at your thread. They do, and there has been talk about it. I have heard it. I have heard that you have not fished one entire season out of Hatteras, from boatyard maintainence in February all the way through commercial mackerel and bluefin fishing in December. You have not fished a season with Buddy Hooper, and you have not fished a season with Randy Turner. And every time I see you around the dock, you have a smoke hanging from your lip. Now you ask, misrepresentation? YES. Stop it right now. You may live in Hatteras, but you are not a Hatteras fisherman. I have worked very hard to get where I am today as a professional mate in the Hatteras Charter Fleet on what I believe is one of the top boats in Hatteras. And I am offended that you have come to this online community of fishermen and misrepresent everything that so many people have worked so hard to accomplish. I certainly hope that if any of our charter fleet mates' wish to move on in their career, wheither it be getting a job in a exotic locale, or captaining a boat, or even buying their own boat, that they will not be held accountable for any misrepresentation on this website by you. Gerrad, good luck with you "job" in LA, or wherever it is. I certainly hope it works out for you. But please, stop what you are doing on this thread and stop misrepresenting Hatteras mates. We are professional. We all care about what we do, and where we do it. And I promise you that there is not one mate at Hatteras Harbor that isn't offended by how you are representing yourself and claiming to be one of us. Please, I ask you for the last time, to stop it now. We have enough to worry about with the economy, much less a 20 year old who is offending us and embarrassing us. If you have anything to say to me, I suspect I will see you behind my boat. Thanks. |

Gerrad
Well, I have been sitting back watching this thread for some time. I know of several other Hatteras Captains that are watching it too.
Gerred, you were lucky enough to have grown up in Hatteras, most of us have not been so fourtunate. You have had opportunities to fish and prove yourself by your actions. Had you played your cards right and proven yourself locally you would be working here and earning good money. Frankly, you are misrepresenting yourself to the world wide fishing community and in your travels and posts giving the professional fisherman of Hatteras a Bad Name. You need to shut up, and prove yourself. You always seem to have an excuse for quitting or not sticking with a fishing opportunity. Show me dont tell me. I think you could possibly be a decent mate someday, but you need to loose the know it all attitude, shut up, listen and learn, most people know more than you. The more you post and respond on here, the worse you look. Let this thread die.
