I've been fortunate enough to do one of these trips before out of Hilo,HI. All I can say is if any of you boys are considering this seriously, make sure you bring your "A" game. This a no nonsense...no B.S. deal for sure. If I could do it again, I definately would. Eat your wheaties and stock up on Ben-Gay for the ride home. You'll need it.

I've spoken with several people so far, and I thank you for your interest. I want you to really think if this job is right for you. I write this because, if its not for you and you say all the right things to get the job and then leave. It hurts me most Especially if there is someone that this job really fits. I wrote this before, but I'll say it again. It takes a truly special person to take a season of this. A trip is one thing, can you go week after week?
Below is the many reasons why most people dont make it in this fishery ............
Can you go a fort night with out a pay check?
how old are you, and I'm not talking any trash, but I know how much it kicks my ass and I'm 27, and the only thing in the world I like to do is to yank on fish.
Have you ever been that kind of distance from land?
Can you handle being on a 40ft boat?
do you get sea sick? Because it can be wicked rough. And, you'll die before we'll turn around.
can you fish 20,30hrs straight with out drugs? Can you perform lots of physical labor with little to no sleep?
do you have a drug Problem?
Drinking problem?
wife? Because you might not when you get done with 16 straight weeks.
Girl friend, because she'll probably have a new boy friend by the time you get home.
Kids? Can you be gone away from them that long really?
This job, can either be the best thing in the world or ruin yours.
Think hard about it, and if your still interested we'll talk

Hey guys, For what it is worth, I had the pleasure of fishing with Kenton (tough on tackle) last year in OZ. Different application than what he is talking about here, but I can tell you that he has a very strong work ethic- and he has no BS to him. Don't think he is just trying to scare you straight so to speak- if he says 20 to 30 hours he means it.

I know I do not fit the bill of what he is looking for, but like many said, If I was 20 years old and "foot loose and fancy free" I would do it.

One other thing- Kenton is quite a videographer as well, the footage he sent me from OZ 2007 was incredible. Especially the footage of the 1100 pounder getting the steel put to her.

Hope you find the crew Kenton, and crush them tunas.

One other question- in the one pic- are they holes in the tunas from cookie cuttter sharks?

Hi I am Graham Harrison of hatteras, north carolina. I have been fishing since i was 2. I am 18 years old and i cant stay on land more than 3 days at a time. Many days i wake up at 3 am to go bait fishing then go to school and spend the rest of the day flounder fishing until about 10pm. I have more experince and knowledge than most fisherman that i know. Soon i will be going to get my captains licences in morehead city. I have 9 days of high school left and then I am ready to compeat with the big dogs. I own 2 small commercial boats for working in the sound and 1 offshore boat. It is a 32' BHM with a 3208 cat. when tuna/ grouper fishing we stay 3 to 4 days. I fish in average 15 to 20 knot winds and 5 to 8 foot seas. Most days we only stay out for 1 to 2 days at a time. I this doesnt work out for me i will be looking for a job on a longline boat out of wanchese nc. For the next 5 months there is nothing here to catch exept for dogsharks next week. I have a North Carolina Commercial fishing license and my operators permit. I am alcohol and drug free. I have no problems with working with no sleep. I currently work on the F/V Prowler and on a skiff in the sound. Most people say that salt water runs through my vains. I have littered up many giant bluefin tuna ranging from 100# to 700# and yellowfins from 20# to 150#. Blue marlins from 200# to 500# and many whites and sails. I spend most of my time green sticking and trolling for King Mackerals, and bottom fishing for grouper and golden tiles. I am pure business no bs. I think i am the purfect canidite for this job.
