charterboat--make less $$, fish more. economy tanks, # of trips cut in half, pay more than half due to smaller tips

private boat--make more $$, fish less. economy tanks, boss sells the boat, cuts your pay or hires new crew under terms that he changes daily until you or the next unemployed sucker agress to.

I have stuck with the charter gigs myself. feel your pain.

jeff, I planned on the same thing. I'm going back down to islamorada next week cuz I picked up a ride on a charterboat out of whale harbor. the captain is a good friend of the last charter guy I worked for, and he threw in a good word for me. so we'll see how this one works out
