You're Kidding Me, Right??

NO, I'm not! That whale flippin' Chumtini the bird must have gotten around out there east of Chatham on Sunday. 'Cause he did it to me too, but in a much more rude manner.

Leave the house at midnight so I can trailer to Bass River and launch at 0330 to head out to the eastern tuna grounds for first light. On the troll for 3 hours before I see Charlie explode on the right outrigger bar, zipping line on a fairly tight 50w straight away from the back of the boat like buttah. My mate is sleeping up in the bow of the CC but springs to action when he hears that sweet music. All right! This is what we come all the way out here for!!

That fish paused for a second before turning the jets on again. Just then, Flipper The Humpback comes out of nowhere and breaches between the screaming tuna and the boat! No, no, no, nooooo don't do that, not now, not there! Ping! And the tuna was gone, broken off by a Humpie flipping me the proverbial bird.

I was beside myself with disbelief. No more knockdowns for the day. All I could do was mutter over and over, "A F'ing whale!".

I think this gets chalked up to the Stuff Happens category, but I am not too sure about that . . .

I read this twice, it was that good. Hell, just about anyone can catch a tuna. But, this brings the game to whole new level. You may not have a bluefin in the box. But you'll have the memory of this tale forever. Epic story, brother. Thanks for posting it.
