We got out for a short window today from 8a-1p, lots of small YFT/BFT, some average mahi, but no wahoo or billfish. A little on the slow side. Tough getting psyched up to catch small YFT, esp after the last BFT trip east. Looking forward to hitting that awesome eddy rolling through Atlantis next week if we can get a window...

Being more familiar with trolling for bluefin, what speeds are you guys trolling at? I hope tuesday stays like it is forecast and we should be going. It would be nice to get into some yellows and some mahi. Sorry to be a novice but how many rods do you guys typically run?

at the speed the spread looks right and as many as the crew can handle.

Wise ass'ing aside 6-7 knots and 7-9 rods

Saw your boat at old harbour in Block this week. Loaded with gear. My buddy who was with me made a dumb comment about how small a 20 foot boat was for tuna fishing. I quickly reminded him that this was us some 25 years ago, sleeping on my 19 mako for a week at a time with no shelter, fishing every chance the weather would allow, outfishing the big boys, selling fish for fuel so we could do it again the next day. Congradulations on a good trip. Enjoy theses days as a young man fishing with friends, these memories will last a lifetime.
I still fish with the crew I had 25 years ago.

Interestingly, the majority of fish were taken in in the wash. Having fished this water four times in the past 2 weeks this was the first time that I was consistently getting hits in tight.
My last 2 trips out I hooked nice tuna right in the wash w/ hex heads

Well said Joey. Thats probably the best single post I've read since I first joined this site. I'll never forget these trips. Tight lines
