If that is the 420 which I think it is, I have a piar of 01's that I have not had any problems with beyond maintenance with a few reasonable exceptions (1 heat exchanger). Parts are not cheap! They are a bit smoky but quiet and efficient.

Dont have that one but have three yanmar motors. In general, yanmars are excilent power plants. However , since they are typicaly high rev engines, PM, and in paticular, oil change intervial, are critical to longevity.
If you are looking at a new boat with new yanmars, cant be beat. Used boat with good PM records, Should be good, but get a tec to look at it (ask for an oil sample) used boat boat with no records, Pass (regardles of mfg) pretty much block and tacke on that one!
