A word of caution...

Guys,

I was sitting in the middle of a FAC and sort of sunny Vineyard Sound listening to the NOAA weather this past Saturday evening. They were talking about intense thunder storms and high winds pushing through Tauton, Mansfield and up to Walpole.

It got me thinking, "Some one is going to get hurt with this weather." The weather has been on the hairy edge of safe the past... oh lets say THE WHOLE FRICKING MONTH!!!!

None of us mind a small pounding or getting wet sitting on a boat. But I don't want any of us to be the boat that pushes it a little too hard on the wrong day. Some day during this weather pattern mother nature is going to hand a real ass kicking to somebody out there.

So far is seems like everyone is making safe choices. But if you roll the dice to often, you will come up snake eyes at some point.

Remember going out is optional.... getting back in is mandatory. Just something I was thinking about...

Mike

good advice P. we launched Sunday morning at 5:00 from Plymouth and the flag standing straight out from the NNE wind gave me a pause. Then as we rounded Plymouth long beach the guys were already wet and my little CC was bouncing pretty good. We turned tail and went in for breakfeast, call me chicken.

I had huge chunks of hail filling my margarita. It was insane. Lightning all around too.

That was good decision. The Tuna will be there the next time you head out and hopefully this weather will improve. Last year I went out in some "questionable " weather and I think that I learned my lesson. No more bad weather for me.

I have not been able to put a crew together so far this season, so my boat has been at the dock for the month of June. So, I certainly hope the weather improves and I can scare up some crew to go along with it.

Solid advice. The resent weather is doing doubble duty keeping us off the water while increasing the urge to get on the water when we probaly should not. Lets use our heads out there guys.

I was the one on Channel 69 talking about the thunderstorm we were seeing on our Sirius weather radar.

We took one look at it and made a b-line for green harbor. Luckily it remained stationary and the rest of the people on the bank were lucky.

The screen was solid red brown white color.

My town (wethersfield, ct) got hit by a tornado on 6/26 - WTF. We lost power for 4 days and their is millions of dollars worth of damage to the town. The weather said chance of rain with possible thunder storms. We had golf ball sized hail and 100mph winds.

So going back to Parapapam statements becareful out there, forecast are often wrong and sometimes you have be your own weatherman to make the right call. Stay safe all.

AMarshall, you've got it man! for boats that are equipped with Sat weather....we owe it to anyone out there to report what we're seeing~

This past Friday AM....we had huge storms threatening the MA-NH-Maine coast....and my little Ray C80 system lit up showing exactly where the trouble spots were....

I can't believe how accurate and detailed it is....
