    Within Sight of Noman's

Headed south again yesterday to the area in which we saw lots of life last week. The seas were not flat calm as predicted, but very doable. Put in at the claw at 6:45 and trolled southeast - only a few scatterd birds and little other life. After about an hour we began to see halfbeaks jumping across the water and one of the short lines went off, but no drag pulled. Result was a green bonito. We continued to see more and more bait being pushed to the surface. At one point the water, which was already churned up by waves in every direction, became noticably ripply over the top, the bait began greyhounding right through our spread hitting the lines at the surface and the same short line went off, this time with lots and lots and lots of drag pulled. Of course, as always, the weakest rod and reel in the five rod spread had been hit. Ten minutes later the BFT was at the boat and the rod snapped. Luckily the crew was at the ready, and it was hand lined into the net and then into boat. Nice, fat 48 inch fish. Stayed in the area for another few hours with only monster bluefish and another bonito to show for our efforts. Water was 68.5 degrees and the BFT was caught on a green and orange feather.

    Nice LD,
Picking up on your previous report, I made the run down past the claw to the fingers and the unexploded ordance on Saturday. Just a few miles north of the dump. I was hoping to replicate your success. Saw very little life in my troll from there towards SW looking for that warmer water. Never found it.

The confused seas frustrated the hell out of me (as my mates bailed on me and I was alone). The constant weed clearing made driving the boat and actually fishing an exercise in futility. No love whatesoever - not even a bluefish. Ah, well, maybe next time . . .!

Same area yesterday. Flat calm. Bait on the surface, but only large bluefish caught.
Saw football bluefin at the BB tower on the way in but no luck.
