    Question Wildcat Knoll

I was thinking of fishing wildcat knoll this weekend and was wondering what species of fish the guys could target while the live bait is swimming around waiting for something to inhale it. The two guys I fish with are a little inpatient and need to keep themselves occupied.

Where will you be leaving out of, and what type vessel will you be traveling in?

Drop some jigs to pickup cod, cusk and haddock. I have good luck using sea clams on the teasers. Bring some shark gear and you might just pick up a mako as well.

Thanks for the info this should keep them occupied and I always have the toothy critter gear on board. My goal of course is something in the eighty-inch range on the live bait.

I do my best to interpret the weather but I am by no means good at it and I have the live weather overlay on my plotter which I pay closer attention to than any thing else. Thank you for the cautionary note and the reminder that weather is very important

Personally, I think you are out of your mind going to Wild Cat from Sandwich in a 23 foot hydrosport. I made the trip there earlier this year after hunting around Stellwagon. I went there just to see how long it would take from Stellwagon. I have a 30 foot Cat with twins.........think long and hard about it....

BTW, become familiar with fishweather.com.....wind model forecasts for cape cod. It is very accurate along with bouey data. This weekend would be a dangerous timeframe for you to consider that safari.

Sorry if I sound like a $#@$, but I would rather you think that and give pause to your thoughts on Wild Cat. If you take stock in the risks and benefits and then decide to go then at least you have weighed them carefully.

This is my favorite link to seeing visually what the seas are doing... (run your curser over the wave height times)
I own the same boat that's why I had originally asked... I was debating hitting the bank as of yesterday, not that impressed by todays reports though!

When you go to Wildcat, do you look for whales and birds like you do at SEC/SWC/PBH or do you just set up shop over some structure that looks good?

I have been close to there in 250 ft. of water just east of the bank and have not seen any life. The shark fishing and cod/haddock have been good, but if you are after tuna, is there generally life visible?
