Anthony's Ark is a blowboater
Wild Cat 9/10
took off from sandwich on the late side, around 930am. was fishing with ryan and chris on chris's 28'5 whaler w/twin 200 4stk mercs. got out to the bank in no time. it was my attempt to get these guys to target tuna, but to no avail. set out for wild cat as the NW winds and seas picked up, which made that additional ~20m a slow ride. while setting up our slick, a huge whale showed his presence not 30yds off our bow. apparently chris has never seen a whale before, so seeing one breech this close was quite amusing to say the least. set out the sea anchor, baits in the water ~1130. water temp was ~65. blue dogs in the slick around 1215, first bite 1220, wire cut at 1245. two others caught and released over the next couple hours. they ranged between 6'-8' in length. drift was right on top of two humps and over a nice 700' drop off before the next hump. all three caught on the downward slope, into the deep and on the upslope. i liked the way that sea anchor held our drift. whole porgies as bait, porgie chum and oil for the slick. no bluefish to be found on the way out, but i can't say we tried too hard to find them. attempted to ground fish while sharking with freshly dug clams, but with every drop, a shark would show up. multitasking wasn't in the cards this go around. picked up around 3pm and headed to boston after a great day fishing wild cat for the first time. thanks guys for the input and suggestions. very much appreciated. dj
