    WHO LET THE DOGS OUT!

OCT. 18, ralphie, bernie, bobaloo and the boys from pa. had a tough day on wildcat. first couple of drops ok. good size pollock, cod, haddock, ling and rosies. then someone unlocked the gate at the pound. DOGS!. tried 11 different areas, dog central. even bothered by their daddy's on three occassions. battled either blues or porbeagles. back at the dock at 5 pm. dog tired. went home, even my dog was barking at me. best, capt. jim

We had the same problem with dogs all day Sunday the 23rd while bottom fishing.

Started off at southern tip of Jefferies and nothing but dogs at all depths. Then we made the move to Tillies with the same results, slowly picked our way out to the back side of Tillies before we started hitting some Cod, Pollock & Cusk and some real nice Hake, but even then it was two dogs to every bottom fish we caught. Seemed like 280 to 310 feet was the sweet spot otherwise nothing but dogs.

This was our last trip of the season, was hoping for a more productive trip but we’ll take what we get….. Until next year!

p.s. The Boston coast guard issued a Pon Pon for a vessel on fire in the morning, we were well out of range, a little while later the coast guard announced the Pon Pon was withdrawn after being assisted by another vessel. I was just wondering if all were ok aboard the vessel in distress, anyone know?
