Made a run to the Tails with the Jenny B and Captain Jerry.
Overall a very stingy bite going on in this area of the Canyons but with some potential(and realized) weather coming along with range and time considerations this was the location with the best temp break and a little bit of decent intel to be had.
Sat was a long hard day with just Mahi in the box when the Short/Long Shotgun goes off, makes a nice first run, stays deep and looks like decent Tuna, crank her to the boat and color's show - White Marlin -
_Must have been good luck from wearing the new "White Marlie" hat picked up in Chatham last week-
We lift her in gently take a few snapshots, pump some Raw water thru her gills then put her in and swim her till she's ready to go back home. first Marlin on the "Jenny B" so all good.
Troll thru sunset with nothing to show for it and set up for the night.
8 Hrs later with 1 Mahi in the box we haul back to get up on the troll.
Last Swordie rod coming in and with one crank it comes tight?
Fighting like a decent fish so we clear the cockpit and set up; 25 mins later we have her to boatside and after a couple leader showings she pulls the Hook.
JOBU HOOKS? Second pulled hook on 2 nice fish in 2 weeks on a Jobu!
Lost a nice BE 2 weeks ago also on a bally rigged with a Jobu and now a nice Swordie on a Jobu!
Having sold and talked to many people about Jobu's I have been a little skittish rigging them on my lures and rigs and have switched mainly to Hays (awesome to date) and Mustads
After this I'm done with them 100%.
Any other guys have similar stories or results with them" Maybe they are just to sharp and razor edges may be sawing thru flesh, especially on long prolonged fights?
Anyways, heartbreaker to say the least for the entire crew, after all that work a nice Swordie would have made it all worthwhile
Gave the morning a good effort but not a sign of tuna anywhere in the area so headed back to CT and took the weather straight in the face as predicted.
Good trip with good guys and christened the Jenny B with her first Marlin so all good.![]()
