where are the mako? wildcat

i was out at wild cat today, caught 2 blue sharks and had them smelling our baits at all times, probably our longest time without seeing a blue sneak up was 30 min over 8 hours, iv been out there to catch a mako. all they wanted to eat was the prop and our balloons so we put a balloon right on a hook, tight in 15 min. then finally when we decided to leave...pogie gets slammed and taken to the bottom by a 250-300lb blue, 30 min fight and released. where are the makos hiding?? heading out tomorrow for bluefin on the corner, ill post some after pics of that if i can

Have you not been paying attention son, keep tuna fishing and sooner or later a mako will gladly accept your gracious sushi offering! Just better be ready for him when the opportunity is there.

On a serious note, don't give up, they're not really that easy of a fish to find and catch unless you've got 30 years experience fishing them, and then it still gets frustrating.
Good luck.

A makos main diet consists of something like 75-80% bluefish! Other than that, they love anything oily, bloody and smelly. False albies, bonito, yellowfin tuna, BLUEFIN TUNA! Don't misunderstand me, they are the ultimate predator and will eat just about anything that catches their eye but the above info should give you a good start. And I can't stress enough that the bait has to be fresh. As in caught that day or within a day! Good luck.
