Where to launch in CC bay?

    Hi guys,

I'm going to be fishing CC bay this weekend (crowds, I know) in my buddy's 17' Montauk. It's currently trailered at his place in Orleans and we were wondering if launching out of Rock Harbor is the way to go? We plan on goin after stripers and blues with some umbrella rigs and jigging. We'd like to not trailer the boat far from Orleans (lives by the cove) to get wet in the bay, but if it'd be much easier to hit good fishing grounds from another launch, we'll do what it takes.

We've done a good deal of fishing in the area over the years but have never really done much in CC bay- any help would be appreciated!

    Tight lines,
    Will

Just be aware that Rock Harbor is tidal. You should check exactly what the limits are, but I believe it's about 3 hours before and 3 hours after high tide. I would also expect things to be pretty busy tomorrow (Monday) as many boats that are normally moored in the bay and were hauled for Irene will be getting re-launched (including mine).

But yeah, if you can live with the 1/2 tide limit, then Rock Harbor is definitely the closest. Pamet is also tidal, so the closest option for launching and returning at any tide would be Sesuit Harbor in E. Dennis.

Sesuit is the best option plus there is a brand new ramp and you have an easy ride in all directions of good fishing

Appreciate the suggestions guys. I know all about the rock harbor tide situation, but aside from that- can we get to fish somewhat quickly out of there?

You'd pretty much fish the same waters from Rock or Sesuit... Billingsgate shoals would probably be the first stop for stripers and blues (wire jigging or umbrella rigs are the most popular. There should be a huge fleet out there this week, though not necessarily any fish under them! Blues can usually be found along the shore from Eastham to Truro, and Race Point up at Provincetown is normally a hot spot but I hear it's been slower this year.

I've been fishing offshore and south of the islands for the past 3 weeks so I haven't had any first hand experience and of course Irene will have shifted things around, but I'll be out there this week probably starting tomorrow.
