PIPE JIGS

An neighborhood old timer just gave me a box of homemade pipe jigs. I'll have to give them a try. He said that's all they fished way back.

We use to make our own jigs from polished SS hex stock.

Fished with the Codfather on his boat when he was up this way and he would fashon some onf the brightest jigs immaginable out of some super highly polished stainless scrap...

That jig in the picture is a little beat up its killed so many cod heres a better shot these are nickel ones. Believe me they are far from a POS. I have seen many big cod fall victim to those unplated ones and they seem to outfish the Norwegians for me at least. My go to jig

My understanding of the jig is that its not as curved as a Norwegian, the Norwegian has a big curve to it where as the lav jig is more of a straight shot. I was told there where made for head boat fishing, they don’t sweep all over the place more up and down, so less tangles.
