Whats up with our bait coming from China?!

last week all I could find in MA was butterfish from China?? I hadnt seen this before. All the shops carrying the same garbbage!!! In 4 flats I couldnt find 1 single bait worthy of "hookbait" quality. They were discolored, stinky, mushy, and just terrible!! When did this start?? It was on my mind for the entire trip. These people catch fish on the otehr side of the world, ship it here, sell it for less than local caught?? I guess it is just going the way every other thing in this country is!! Made in China !!!

My sperry boat shoes shit the bed again. Second pair to have the soles separate in 8 months.

    Made in China.

Quoddy boat shoes here I come. Handmade in Maine.

Please note that all Quoddy footwear is "made to order", which means when you order a pair, we make it just for you. This takes a little time, normally about 4-6 weeks. Thank you in advance for your patience.

I Just dropped off 20 cases of Sardines in 22lb. cases to Falmouth Bait and Tackle. I don't know where you guys are fishing out of but Sardines are becoming a preferred chunk bait by the guys in NY/NJ. These are much better than the Chinese butterfish. If your looking for a better chunk bait give them a call 508-457-0700. They have 20 cases in stock and I have an additional 14 cases then we are out od sardines for the season. Hope this helps.

The reason for the Chinese Butterfish is normally Butters are caught in the gulf even before the spill I believe there was some type of shortage or new regulations on the butterfish fishery. The other Butterfish impostor on the market are African Pompano, they are better than the Chinese stuff, but still not real butters. Try these sardines out, I think you will be happy. I got a guy in NJ that would take 40,000lbs. tomorrow if I had them.
