What do you mean?

I asked this question on another site but wanted to ask it here too...

What do people mean when they say, for example, they went "0 for 3" ? Are you saying you lost three fish? Or are you saying you missed three bites? My guess its the first one but I wanted to check to make sure instead of assuming.

Having the unforunate track record of never batting 1000%, I mean:

Number of fish in the boat (or intentionally released, shaken off, or easily gaffed but you didn't want to) divided by the number of bites that pull drag for a minutes or more. I mean you were in the fight....

...not swings and misses, not popped the release clip, not a hit that pull for a couple seconds then goes away.

Fish landed compared to fish actively fought.

I guess it depends on who you ask and when. I was on vaca last week in Chatham and went 0 for 3. 0 fish in 3 days


And my new definition for a "run-off" was watching something "run off" with all my line; a 50VSW loaded with hollowcore, g.o.n.e.

Thats what I figured but wanted to check first. Then from what I have been reading online, sounds like there are a lot of fish being lost the last couple years. For example, I just read one post from someone on another site boasting about going "3 for 10". I know nobody can answer this exactly, but how many of the fish people are losing are due to the fish being parted off?
