"If at first you don't succeed, don't try skydiving"
we fished the fishtails for a day trip last fri. we went 5/6 on small yft with only one being a keeper. we were content with those results as we only fished for about 6 hrs, then went home.
on the way back from the fishtails to narr. bay we saw scattered pods of bft from the lanes all the way to the block. never stayed up long enough for us to stop and fish too hard. we were on a time crunch to get back home anyways.
sunday, we went out again on a much shorter trip and got a 50 lb bft south of the block (within eye site of block). many pods of tiny bft were popping up everywhere. the biggest fish we saw jumping were maybe 20 lbs. but obviously some bigger fish must have been mixed in.

little love
we worked about 5-6 miles west of the canyon looking for the warmer break that has been showing on the charts. Found a nice grass line that had good temp break with a slick for a mile or more. We pulled a couple nice yellowfin and mahi from the grass. There was bait, birds, whales, porpoise, scattered but no concentration. I pounded the grass and sniffed a couple 40lbers. The marlin were everywhere. We didnt have live bait and didnt have any love in the tuna spread with billfish. We made some nice casts wtih ballys, but nada on the marlin. Figured with the amount in the area, there has to be food there for them. I bet we saw at least 10, and had shots at 6. Saw tiger shark, mantas, and not sure but maybe a whaleshark? It surfaced rite when the yellowfin hit, enourmous tail, crazy, but cool!!
