WELKER Canyon- Nov. 8- 9, STRADIVARIUS CRUSHED THEM!

    One & All,
Well, the call just came in.. STRADIVARIUS and crew CRUSHED the fish at Welkers Canyon.
Not much on the troll, but after dark it was 'lights out' fishing which produced any number of YFT- jigging, bait, and topwater; 2/4 on swords to 100+ lb, and some nice mahi. They also had a nice mako that they let go simply because they didn't want to 'deal' with it.
Check the calender out.. the Fat Lady has not sung, as yet.
The water and the fish will be there.. all that's needed are some decent weather windows.

PS- All systems including Klondike Bars, worked.

The Stradivarius is back from a two day trip. Hard to believe it's November after experiencing the flattest seas and the most beautiful sunset and sunrise in all my days doing offshore fishing.

She's now fueled and cleaned by guests that took a lot of time and pride in the task. Her bounty was distributed and 8 people went home with fresh catch of yellowfin tuna, swordfish and mahi. We let the legal Makos go. So as someone was saying ,,,, "We had a quad slam!"

But most important of all is the crew of 7 plus captain making 8, will always remember the trip. I'm sure for most of the guys this was the best offshore trip ever experienced.

I'm through with posting things as boat information and trips reports.

What I will post is when I'm planning to go. I'll share where I intend on starting and I'll post when I'm interested in bringing others out with me.

The Strad is tied to her dock cleats after running to extremes. Extremes that most dream about.

It's not done for my glory. Far from it!

No photo or video is going to do the trip justice. To me and most others, it's not about a body count because us as fishermen know one fish could make a trip a success. What our experience was and what we all want as fishermen is the perfect experience which runs a huge gambit of items. But when the chips are down and the options are few and then a grand slam comes to compete the game, well how much better is there?

What we saw, what we did, what we caught and our experience can not be shared because it was a collective experience. From the moment that the "The Ride of the Valkyries" was played the moment we cleared the marina I had a gut feeling that we we going to do what I thought we'd do.

The water is there gang. Go for it.

Awesome catch's !! I saw the pic on CTF. Now that WAS a full box.

Congratulations. I would love to be able to make the next trip out east. The water looks great and appears to remain this way for a while. Here is a temp shot from this morning.

Mike - I completely get a d understand what your saying - as has been said to me in the past - there are many haters out there - don't let them tell or influence what you do, say, or write. Some people can see beauty and pleasure; others see only black and gloom.

Good work planning, orchestrating and pulling this one off!

Actually on 2nd thought - even better work spending 4 years designing and planning the boat that has the capabilities to safely pull off a November canyon run.

    thanking you....

It was a killer trip..... without getting into details of the count, i will limit my post to a few humble observations:

-the captain is very capable and tenacious.

-crews are thoughtfully put together to include a dynamic range of individuals from highly experienced to "newbie."

-true, the boat is part art, but mostly beast.....

-bottom line- Thank you to Mike and all of the crews I fished with for the kind opportunities to share in some awesome experiences.
