I can say in 20 years of mating and being a captain in the new england groundfishing charter fleet I have never seen or caught a butt....but no pun intended when I was a guide in AK we caught thousands....some places in maine still have them and a few of the offshore banks but not enough to target specifically with any consistant success...Doug

Talk to Walsh, he will explain it a little better. A few years back he was running some experimental groundfish trips way up off the Hague Line. That is where he was getting halibut bites, and huge mats at that!

Thanks Chum and all of you for all of your words of wisdom.

I'm going to the shop to get 400'+ of line put on and stock up on all the jigs, teasers, etc.

Also going to get my head examined per my wife's request.

Pictures will be posted a week from today, if the weather will hold up!
