    W of W Atlantis.

left Sunday at noon, but got delayed on way out. we found a floating log real close. i think it was maybe 6-8 miles from Newport. had a bunch of nice mahi. decided to play with my new spearguns. long story short, we shot a few and had so much fun we pot hopped on way out.

we should have been at edge by 230, but instead got there at 630 pm after shooting a bunch of mahi in Newport and further in the lanes. found whales and dolphins and lots of boats working. we trolled til dark without a touch. radio said a few people caught a few small yellows. set up for night chunk. did not see one tuna or even a mahi. nothing on our chunk baits. we had one huge runoff on the sword bait. i guess it could have been a sword, or maybe a manta as there were plenty around. it dumped half an Avet 50w at full drag before it let go. squid bait was missing head but otherwise perfect. had a hammerhead in our slick for awhile, but didnt bother baiting it. just watched it. that was it for the night. radio chatter sounded similar. i dont think anybody did much of anything. it was FAC Sunday and Sunday night.

There was a huge lightning storm coming from LIS. we watched the lightning show all night, but thankfully in the morning it passed south of us and we had overnighted in 1000 ft.

at first light we trolled into deep. we had a double of small yft, but keeper sized. then we had a long distance release on a white. then one more small yellow. we found the fish in 75ish degree water in 1300 feet. a 26 ft. regulator "Mojo" was there working the fish with us, and a big sportie. both were hooking up. by then, wind picked up. it got real sloppy very quickly. decided to go home. i don't know what the seas were, but we still managed to run home at 37-41 mph. i was dry behind the console, but my friends on beanbags ion the cockpit said it was like chinese water torture and they got soaked. i didn't care. we ran 100 miles in 2.5 hrs and didn't pound once. there were definitely a few real 5 ft'ers in that slop. that would have been 4+ hrs of pain on my old boat. the yellowfin is a beast.

    agree.

Question - when you run at 35 knots - are you skipping off the top of the seas and do you ever come fully out of the water or does the speed allow you to bridge the troughs?

Joey wins the toy competition hands down.

Envious is the understatement. What are you driving these days? GT3?

    Awesome video.

i guess it bridges the waves. i have only gotten the props to bark once in the 110 hrs I've run the boat so far.

i maybe making up these numbers as estimates of wave heights are sketchy at best. but in what I would call 3-4 fter's at 5 seconds (a bad chop), i can still go 40 mph comfortably. once it gets to be 5 fters at 5 seconds (which is what i sea trialed the boat in Sarasota and this was buoy confirmed data) it can still go 40 mph, but it will launch once in awhile. you have to actively drive it. in those conditions it can run 35 mph though, pretty easily.

i had one run from block island in a nasty confused 5 ft chop, we ran 35 mph on two motors (boat was new to us, and 3 motors with 5 gas tanks and 3 fuel guages got us confused. so we ran out of gas in one motor). we got wet and it pounded a few times, but i was still tremendously impressed.

i have not been in anything bigger than that yet in the boat. i am sure it will suck. the boat doesn't go slow well. if i put the tabs down and trim the motors in, i can probably keep it on plane at around 25-28 mph. i'm not sure of those numbers.

this is running to the gas dock this afternoon:
