    W.atlantis/ atlantis 7/7

Had lines in at the break at west Atlanis at a casual 8:30 am, 15 minutes later we're hooked up to the first canyon fish of the year, a nice 50 pound class yellow. Well that was it for the next couple of hours besides a few swings and misses by some of the smallest mahi i have ever seen. They were trying to inhale the hoo's but couldn't fit them in there mouths. A little time goes by and we have our first visit from a white marlin, he came up on a skirted hoo that i had in the short. He slashed a couple of times and was gone before we could get a pitch bait to him. Then all of sudden he comes back up on the long skirted hoo, all hell breaks loose and before you know it we're clearing lines and he's dancing across the surface only to throw the hook a few minutes in. A couple of hours pass with no knockdowns so we mke a decision to move to a good looking break at atlantis. We get lines in and notice a boat pulling there pots so we make a close pass about 200 yards passed the boat 1 rod goes then 2 then 3 and 4, were tight. Everyone jumps into gear lines get cleared and we start fighting the fish. We end up dropping one and landing 3 longfins. Deck gets cleaned fish go in the box and spread goes back out. About an hour goes by and the long rigger pops and the 50 is singing we're thinking big yellow as it hit a rainbow bar, same drill clear lines angler jumps on the rod and starts the battle. Fish is taking a little line and staying down we fight it for about 15 minutes and finally get color, it's a white marlin we're all totally surprised as the fish never came up and never acted like a marlin. I leader the fish pull him in the door for a quick shot and off he goes. One more rat yellow and we call it a day. Not a bad first trip.

Sweet work guys! GW gave me the report. A great way to break in a boat's first canyon run with tuna and a billfish being landed!
