    good motors. twins in a 28 henriques (FOR SALE). good power to weight, fuel economy.
    we just did a lot of overhaul work on the motors. reasonable cost. i would say right around any other brands but good engines regular maintenance is easy. and we have not had any problems....

    Good engines. Parts are easy to get because there are plenty of these engines in the northeast. Quite a few have been installed in small commercial boats and they are a well proven engine.
    The only negatives I can think of is they are hard starting in the winter. They start, but they seem to be warm blooded. Most Volvos that are not electronic tend to smoke.
    VOLVO= swedish for smoke.

    have two 7500hrs run good, several problems- raw water cooling pumps suck replace evry 900 hrs when it overheats, no zincs in the entire engine so coolers fry off with electrolysis volvo coolers are made of gold apparently a transmission cooler that should cost 400$ costs 2000$ yes 2000$ otherwise the guts are strong smooth motors

    Willie, you can use a generic transmission cooler on those. I paid $200 for mine and it is twice the size of the stock Volvo one. Just fyi next time you need one

    Do the 41's have the turbo gasket between cast iron and aluminum manifold nonsense?

    I think I had that gasket replaced 7 times on my 42P's before Volvo finally came up with a gasket that worked.

    yes it does, always replaced when apart, but never needed to replace never leaked. big gasket critical it it facing the right direction (there is a forward and back to the gasket) a big + from the a to the p was most of the infamous vovlo orings on other parts notabally cooling system, were replaced w hoses and clamps. dont worry though they still have their share, one that is a ***** is the one between the fw pump and thermostat housing.

    Thanks, Come on... april 15th..... Should be a good year, looks like they are getting them down in nc.......And I take it NOAA has finally figured out that bluefin are actually not endangered......Trying to get the spring black sea bass issues figured out. the state and asmfc are open to public comment, as you might be aware they are trying to kill us on a resource that according to them is 104% recovered, not overfished and ranked 4 out of 4 in the susatinability index. Yet they are trying to implement exteremly restrictive measures like not being able to catch a black sea bass until July 1. Really great for the charter business in the spring. To put things into perspective dogfish are 104% recovered. There is an addendum that passed that will allow Mass to figure out their 40-60% reduced quota so we might get a spring fishery.....
