    Captain Dom,
Thanks for sharing the extra photos. Rich had nothing but great things to say about you and the advantages you guys had this season working together. I will definitely be out there again next season to fish with Rich. Maybe we can fish together one day.

    Captain Sears,
You are absolutely correct about the J-hooks for attaching your drop down harness straps to the reels. Some of the older harnesses actually snapped onto the harness lugs. If for some reason your line wrapped around the tip of your rod or a reel failed or another reason, there is no way you can get out of these clips. Your advice for "J" clips is major for anyone just getting into big game fishing. I target big Mako sharks in California, as well as the giant Blue fin every winter down in Atlantic Beach, NC and I would never think about using anything but the "J" clip. Great advice for anyone getting into this style of fishing. You always have to make safety your top priority not only for the angler, but also your crew.
    John

Just a word of precaution when "strapping in" 30 pounds of drag can pull you to the bottom very quick. We also do this for small kids when we striped bass fish. This has saved a few rods from falling overboard.

And getting wet in November is no fun! I almost took a header off of my transom on Tuesday. While fishing for pollack. Safety lines are huge. It's tough putting the safety on the spinning rod, but he hook up the safety to the D-Ring on the harness when fighting a fish. Always when shark fishing or using trolling gear....

Have a great winter, Greg. I'm mostly out now; boat's ready, but the weather isn't.... See you soon, Rich

I know he won't toot his own horn so i will do it for him. Alloy Toy here on the forum manufactures a very nice clamp on rod clamp for spinning rod use. I have bought two from him and have been very happy with them. They are beautiful machines aluminum anodized pieces that look as good as they perform. If you are in the market for one i would contact him here and ask him for some of his awesome rod clamps.

Nice clamp....do you "know him"? If you could have him drop me a line, that would be great. Thanks! Rich

Is there a website for these clamps or are these just produced as needed? Looks like a great design and the anodizing matches well on our jigging rods.
