Veatch Canyon Overnight - Aug. 12, 13
Left Falmouth 9 am for east Atlantis to work the 600-700' line into Veatch. Multiple take downs. Get into 73-75 degree water. Caught 2 nice albacore 40-50 lbs., 3 skipjack and 2 white marlin (released). Birds and whales on edge in deep water. Fished the west wall of Veatch and setup for the night bite in deep water for swords. Two take downs on swords - both broke off - one snap fail and one line snap. It's not my time for swords! Morning light setup for big eye - 2 YFT 60-70 lbs and more mahi. Time to head home. South of shipping lane, Mr. Mako makes 3 jumps. We stop, cut up mahi and tuna heads. No luck. Head north, 1/2 beaks in 65-68 degree water. Did not see birds or tuna but lots of bait along the north route from Veatch.

Uncle Lar....
When yout tossed those ballys at em, how long did u let them soak???
Sometimes you just got to let em sink WAY down before they ever so sneakily turn and head down for a free meal. If that doesnt work & he's still on the surface, try a good ol fashion boone bird with a green machine way back on the center rigger. Come along beside the track of the fish & then when you are passed him a good way, cut in front of him & drag it right over the top of his head, if he dissappears. Keep trollin striaght for a few seconds,, then speed up, slow down , jig it a couple times , then speed up again. It works.
