    Question Vacation down the Cape?

Im thinking of taking off a week in August and heading to the cape for a little R & R. Im up for either camping or hitting a hotel/motel/B&B or whatever really. Ill be bringing the GF and have a couple things Im looking for. Fishing, Drinking, Good times...doesnt have to be in that order either. If you know of any campgrounds on the water where I can drive out and surfcast that would be cool, or Id be willing to hop on a boat with someone for a charter. The GF gets sea sick BAD so Ill be a solo project. Let me know your ideas and thoughts...

Your welcome to jump on my boat. I'll be in Chatham chasin the bluefin by then. I'm also taking a week off in Aug too. And just by coincident, staying in Chatham week of 2-9.

It's been a while since I went camping.

If you have a camper with 4x4, the national seashore might be what your looking for. Not too sure about the GF Gotta have a camper. There are no facilities. But your right on the beach and wake up to some incredible sunrises, seals, very cool. You need a permit.

There's a few in Falmouth. Washburn island is neat. Only way in is by boat. A bunch along the canal. I think there's one on the Vineyard (near OB and Vineyard Haven). Long Pond over by Chatham.

Sandy neck lets campers out on the beach for the night/weekend. Permit required but not sure of the cost for out of state/non resident. I think there is a campground in Sandwich on Sandwich rd. Not sure of the name but can look into it for you if you like. It is not too far from me. Nice place, right on a pond as well. Not too far from some nice beaches.

I havent been down that way in a long time...It doesnt have to be camping it can be a hotel or whatever, doesnt matter to me. you know how the girls like to sit on porcelin to pee and are just jealous we can do it standing up. Keep the suggestions going, Chumtini Im not sure what week Im gonna take off but if the days overlap Ill take you up on your offer.

By Aug, I'll be out every chance I can. If yours overlaps, great. If not, no worries. If you haven't fished Chatham...you haven't fished. Just getting out of the harbor is more excitement than NASCAR

Shawme-Crowell State Park is pretty close to the canal, and Peter's Pond Campground is out in South Sandwich. Both nice places with decent facilities.

    What Jay said
Hey Jay is that the same as Scussett?
There's a big area at Scussett across the ditch from the marina but you may need to have an RV for that one. One other thing I seem to remember from way back when and that was Sandy Neck is simply beautifulllllllll but greenheads

Not sure abouttime of season for greenheads But you will want to avoid the swarms like it was the plague

Vin - Shawme is on the Cape Side - 2 or 3 miles from the marina. I'm not sure if Scussett is RV only, but that would be a great call too - it's right on the water.

There's also the big campground right by the Bourne bridge - I think its Bourne scenic campground or something like that - that one is right on the canal.

Just a thought - Horseneck Reservation in Westport is a great campground location with walk to Beach for GF and the harbor a short bikeride away. Tripps has transient slips and moorings and the public ramp is 1 mile from the campground. Less crowds than the cape.
