    Tuna Tactics-101.

Well guys check out this months “Big Game Fishing Journal” magazine for my article on tuna fishing out east. “Splish Splash” is the title and it is on page 12. It will give you a great overview of our fishery out east of Chatham and how we fish it. I also want to remind you tuna guys that I will be holding a tuna class on Sunday, May 23rd, from 1 to 6 pm here at the tackle shop, "The Hook-Up!" in Orleans. “Tuna Tactics-101. How to catch bluefin tuna.” is a 5 hour class that covers tuna fishing from A-Z. We will cover boat handling techniques, stand up gear and techniques, equipment needs, NMFS permits and regulations, trolling spreads and tactics, fish preparations, finding and locating fish, gaffing and cockpit harpooning, squid rig repairs, bally-hoo fishing, and much more. I will also be available after the class to answer any questions. The cost is $125 and includes lunch and a take home notebook filled with the class notes and outline. Anyone who attended the “Big Game Bash” will get $50 off this admission price. I have 12 guys signed up for this so we will definitely be holding this class. This will be the only class offered this season. I had some guys who missed the "Big Game Bash" ask me to throw this together so with the tuna season just around the corner, t-minus 19 days and counting, I decided to hold one more class for this season. If you want to learn about tuna trolling this is your class. I will also be adding a section on fighting big fish on small rods and I will give you a brief overview on live bait fishing as well, focusing on the rigging and hook selection etc.. Just call the shop at 508-240-0778 if you would like to get a ticket. Thanks. Capt. Eric

Woooow, hold on brother. You have been on here for almost one year. You have made three posts and now you say I am spamming? As a paid advertiser on this site I pay to post my business related news and info. I pay to play, unlike some other boat captains on here. I had some customers who wanted to get some info on tuna fishing so I threw this class together for them. Why so negative bro? Tuna season doesn't start until June 1st for me and I don't do the whole Cod fish thing.....So your point is?!?!?!? Capt. Eric

This effin chit is really getting old if you don't like a certain member than move on and keep your opinions to yourself. The guy is a hard working charter Capt. who does pay for the privilege to post anything business related here so if you don't like it don't read his postings it is that easy. But to keep hammerin' the guy for nothing is just bad form IMHO! I realize this is a public forum and you can do what you please but give the rest of us who don't want to hear your negative opinions of whomever a break PLEASE!

    Capt. Eric,

My above post, definately, read in poor taste. I absolutely apologize. In re-reading it.. I now realize that what I typed was hurtful.

Initially, I was attempting to joke that you had spelled 'Tuna' as 'Tuan'... in the title of the original post. The use of the term SPAM was also a very poor decision on my part.

Admittedly, I am more of a 'lurker' on this site... mostly because others here, including yourself, have more experience catching in these waters, than myself.

I hope you will believe me in that, sometimes, it can be very easy to forget that other veteran members may not know me... as well my attempt for humor.

I hope you will accept my honest apology.

    Jim

I appreciate the fact that such a consummate professional is offering to share his knowledge. No way is there anything that I or anyone who knows him can say about Capt. Eric that is not extremely positive, notwithstanding the suggestion above that was just plain off-base. He should meet Capt. Eric before forming judgments. I have no doubt that he would respect and like him. We are fortunate to have such a fine person offering his hard-earned knowledge about this amazing fishery.

The presentation I attended was mid-winter. By the time August rolled around, I forgot just about everything he said This seems like the perfect time of year to offer it.

I recommend it. It sure beats spending countless hours wandering around aimlessly and blowing money on all the wrong stuff.

I will even buy the beer I might even show you a special chart with SAT locations on it Capt. Eric
