Hi, been looking at getting some tuna rods and put shimano 80s on them. My friend told me about saco bay rods up in ME. Does anyone fish these rods? Any recommendations?? Thanks

Check these reels out before you buy a Shimano

They have crazy specs for drags and real inexpensive, considering the competition.

thanks for the replys, well I'm not rich so not looking to break the bank. I have looked at CMS and they look like great rods. But they're about a 2-2.5hr drive from my house. Where saco bay is closer. I guess I could have them shipped. I already have the 80's so just need the rods, i like the bent butt ones with the aftco roller guides. Planning on doing stand up and fight out of a rod holder from time to time. I like to fish with live bait, troll, and I was planning on getting a Kite
I did however see and talk to the guys over at canyon reels at the RI fishing show. They do look impressive. And really good prices.

    CMS Stellwagen Specials

Hey Dan - Just an FYI, CMS now makes a "Stellwagen Special". It's a 6', 80-130 blank, short curved butt, with Aftco Big Foot WO Guides. Great rods. They made this particular rod 6" longer than their traditional standup rods (5'6") to give you a liiiittle extra length if you want to throw the rod in the holder.

A buddy of mine that fishes with us bought two at the end of last year and paired them with 80 Tiagras. Pretty sweet setups.

You may want to give them a look.

X2! I just bought 2 of the Stellwagon specials last fall and am going to get a third before the season starts. I put two tiagra 80W's and just got an Alutecnos 80. The rods are priced fair and give you the option to fight stand-up or just leave it in the gunwal and fight the fish from the holder.

X3 I just placed an order this week.

I figuere its a nice option when people think they want to go stand-up, and 20 minutes in are begging for the rodholder.

    I'm afraid to ask...

    What is a "Stellwagen Special"?

PS Paul builds some whicked stuff. I've watched his builds over the years here on SFC. Check out the rod building section. I was just looking at his website. That one built on a Super Seeker is a beauty! CMS is also outstanding. I have several CMS custom built rods. A+
