    what is too short for tuna fishing in new england, is 5'6 to short of a rod or no

    all my rods 5'6 standup calstar boomer and will take down any tuna or shark unless you want to meat fish with 130s in the rod holders no thats just me

    I prefer a 6 footer. There is more action in the rod and especially with outboards it allows you to have more control over the fish. Plus your fishing pictures look cooler with a longer rod doubled over! Good luck

    If you have a clean transom 5'6" is perfect ,I would go 6' if you have outboards or a bracket to get around
