tuna fishing report 9/19 sunday report

woke up @ 2:30 am made bait got 12 pogies and a perfect 2 lb bluefish, got out to my spot that i have been fishing hard the last 2 weeks because there have been a good amount of 400 plus lb fish caught there. Set up @ 6:45AM put the perfect Tuna candy on the kite and put 1 pogie on a ballon and put another pogie freelined, I made my first drift nothing no whales no birds nothing on the screen did 5 drifs at this spot and it was soooooo dead it was like fishing in the harbor. then i got some intell that there were fish on the eastern edge so i went up there and got nothing except a 10ft blue dog that i fought for 15 minutes and he popped my floro leader wich i figuerd would happen, no biggy not a shark guy , bottom line i had a very pefect size live bluefish on the kite from 6:45 to 5:00pm at night with 2 other baits out the whole time fished a lot of ground i didnt see anything on the screen the whole day and i saw 2 whales where and i dont want to ear that its the way it goes cause this has happen to me a lot this year.where have these fish gonne im getting really frustrated, any reports that can cheer me up? WHERE ARE THE TUNA I MEAN THE 74'' PUS ONES NOT THE SLOT FISH CAUSE I HEARD THAT BITE IS GOOD.

FYI - this is the stangest year for Tuna fishing fo me so far in my 6 year career, also should i achor instead of drifting?

    Same story here.

Live bait, everything perfect. Lots of marks in the morning. Nothing.

SWC was dead, SEC had a ton of life. Shut off by 8am and didn't mark a thing for the rest of the day.

Welcome to the new and improved tuna fishery.

As you've seen yourself a bunch of times the problem is once the one or three schools that are hanging in an area move off there's a big gap between the next one.

We saw a few larger fish while bass fishing on Saturday in the Bay, but it's still anemic.

What I can't believe is how little bait and life there's been on the SWC.

This is the worst I've ever seen it. We drove from the SEC to SWC on the way home saturday and marked NOTHING the entire 10 or so miles. No bait, no whales, no marks whatsoever.

I didn't even mark dogfish on the corner.

We have 5 factory ships vacuuming up bait on the outside of the cape and 5 whiting draggers inside the cape.

On Thursday we were pulling up big bass stuffed to the point of blowing up on sand eels. There's some bait in the general area it's just that there is no/infrequent tuna.

What's odd is the bass fishery enjoyed one of the best years in recent memory. The fish were on plentiful bait.

I guess what I'm wondering is, if they're not catching them off NH and Maine, not really off LI and NJ and they're not here, where are they?

Yeah, I've caught more big bass in this year alone, than my entire 32 years prior combined.

    Best bass year ever.
