    Tuna After Dark

Anyone have much/any success catching tuna during the night hours? Wondering if it's worth the effort or waste of time.

    Thanks.

I have plenty of friends who have hooked up at night. It's a **** show when it happens.

are you speaking recently, or in general? if in general, i assume you're asking about the canyons which i've chunked the overnight several times and have been successful (and unsuccessful). tuna, swords and sharks. be prepared to cut bait all night long and look for the 'ghosts' in the water. IMO, it's worth it....

In general. No, not the canyons...again in general, anywhere where tuna are hunted during day hours (for us, here in Maine waters). Just have never tried it or heard much about it so was wondering if it's worth trying, sounds like it is worth trying. We always have plenty of bait to cut so that's not a problem. Are you live lining as you chunk or are you hooked into bait chunks? Light in the water to bring life around your boat or keeping it dark?

    Thanks for the replies

    Give me a p.m.
I'm in Maine and have fished several years at night with good success for giants.
It's not for the faint of heart, but can be done successfuly. The best part of it is twofold:
    1. Fuel burn is minimized by staying over
    2. Herring is available during the wee hours

Funny you say that, my friends I was referring to all live in Portland. Seems to be a Jeffrey's thing.
