We had a long 14 hour day on the water. We had thick fog until noon and it finally lifted. We put in somewhere in the lanes, SE of the Dump in 71* water. After about 2 hours we had a knockdown, short fight and it came unglued. We found lots of dolphins and some bait pushing the surface. We had several mahi short strikes off the flyers. Down by the 80 fathom curve the water hit 75.5 - 76.1 and we found a lot more activity . We doubled up on just barely legal YFT, lost one but boated the other. Then had a hammer of a knockdown on a flatline squidbar. Turned out to be about 60lb class YFT with some strong shoulders. While we were fighting this fish, there were 2 white marlin finning about 100 yards away from the boat.
Final tally - 2 for 5 on Charlie and 3 swings and misses on the mahi.
Not a stellar day but nice to be in the bluewater again.
