Our 31 is outboard and 43 is diesel inboard... The spreads I run are similar but speeds and distances from boat completely different. Outboards will raise fish but placement has a ton to do with it. My diesel I can run stuff in different spots and still catch fish. The outboard is sensitive... Foot too long or close and I'm barking at the moon.
My inside stuff seems to have to come closer while the long stuff has to go longer. Its not one fix. The whole spread has to be worked til you find that special speed and distances...
I run a 27 also with same engines as the 31. My bars do best in really tight on her. The flats also run tight. Like the 31 though the riggers run better longer... Both of them are good on tuna. The 31 works on billfish pretty good too. Sails tight and marlin in the riggers...
Guys sorry I didn't get back to you sooner but I was on vacation down in P.A this pass weeked. Thanks for all the great info. This is why this web site is a true asset! I have tryed alot of different things while trolling but one thing I have overlooked is the engine trim I don't remember ever moving it up!!! Sometimes its the little things that will screw ya. Next time I am out I am going to try some different things that you guys mentioned. On a good note I snuck out Friday morning with some bait and we were tight 5 minutes into the day. It was nice to here one of the new Tiagras screaming!!! Fish was 68 inches and fat. I will keep you guys up to date on the trolling thing. Thanks again Jesse P.S. Hey Greg do the store brand hot dogs work or do they only like Ball Parks?![]()
