Congrats on a good day on the water. As food for thought, did you think about perhaps letting a foul-hooked fish swim especially as you did not have what you felt to be a clean harpoon shot? In hunting this is more common (should ALWAYS happen, but clearly doesn't), but throwing the poon is basically the same as pulling the trigger. Up to this point you are dealing with a fish that will survive, after probably not. If the story ended up with that harpoon pulling how different would the story be? Why don't we view a mortally wounded fish that we fail to retrieve the same as a trophy animal? Should we?
Not meant in any way as an attack, I just tend to muse on outdoor ethics too much and thought it was worth bringing up.
