Tried For Cod Outside Of Green Harbor Today

Finally pulled the boat for the season today. My friend Eddy came down to help with loading the boat and we decided to try jigging for cod for a couple of hours. Theres a hump out east that flirts with the three mile line we wanted to try. On the way out we hit a few spots that were good in the spring but didn`t do anything. Out by that hump we did catch cod but no keepers, small fish from 12 to 20 inches. Caught maybe 15 of them. We did catch big mackeral though, biggest I`ve caught this year, kinda surprised me. Water is still warm pushing 50 degrees on my Ray Marine. If the wind wasn`t honking out of the north I would of been tempted to kite one at the SW corner.

FWIW did great on the cod this year esp in the spring. Limit out no problem and usually had a 26" minimum going just to get better filets. Hopefully they do a sane reassessment and the bag limit stays the same, but I`m not holding my breath. Idiots.
