    Question Thoughts/opinions BF vs. YF

A friend of mine asked me today what fish fights harder pound for pound Bluefin or Yellowfin. I have caught Bf up to +700# on conventional gear and up to +250# on spinning.
I have only caught Yf to +130# on conventional gear (30's/50's)only. I really had a hard time answering his question. Looking for others thoughts and opinions. Thanks in advance.

yellowfin by far...also depends on the depth of water.. but my vote is yellowfin. I have caught them 250+ on spinning (do not reccomend this) and conventional

Pound for pound I think yellowfin are stronger than both bluefin and bigeye.

I have caught all 3 species yft, bft, and bigeye on different gear and have caught all 3 over 300lbs and i can say this the yft encountered in the pacific pull harder than any other tuna on earth especially in that hot tropical water also the larger yft tuna i have caught off of venezuela pulled alot harder due to what i believe the warm water temps. But in the Northeast i believe the best fighter is the bluefin. Bigeye's in my mind give up way too easy when you put the heat to them.

    YFT

I've never landed an eyeball although we may have gotten a small one (100lbs) in Fishtails a few years back, but the YFT is the strongest in my mind pound for pound. If skipjack tuna grew to the same size as YFT, you could not stop them with anything less than a 130. Pound for pound its YFT all the way.

Nothing pulls harder than a 72.375" mini giant trying to get out of the bathtub...
