THANKS IRON SKIPPY
Trailed my friends boat to Duxbury with 3 friends who have never been tuna fishing before hoping to get into some of the great fishing I have been reading about. Have not fished in the bay since the 80's. as canyon fishing is my passion.
My brother inlaw who lives in Duxbury hooked up with John Bumar to arrange for bait.
John got us bait and arranged for an early pick up. John also was nice enough to spend some time with me on the rigging of the kite, rods etc. and also told us where the fish were biting. Nothing beats local local knowledge from a professional captian.
Set up the kite bait on the southeast corner and had a boil immediately. Next fish came in and took the kite bait on an 80 with straight 130 mono. Fought the fish for an hour when we got the fish straight up and down the 130 lb. stand up rod broke in half. Fought the fish for about half and hour with the broken rod and finally got the fish to the boat with a combination of reeling and handlining because of the broken rod. Fish measured out to 76.5 inches. Great experience for my 3 friends, they are now hooked.
thanks again john
