the tapering off of groundfishing

The fact that many party boats have already stopped going out for the season, and others have cut back the number of runs they make out of Mass, would you say this has more to do with the cold weather offshore or does the bite typically slow way down this time of year?

yes, but how about fish on board? why do the party boat companies stop going out this time of year, ... cold? does a season end? (I know the Helen H just starts their cod runs to Georges Bank about now). or does the bite slow down for most places offshore? thanks again

Bite on Jeffs has been great for us recently, but usually boats up here start wrapping up because of the cod closure, insurance, and the cold. Hard to book up trips this late in the season.
