We had an awesome day with an awesome crew. Left the harbor as always at 0400 and steamed out through the fog, again. This is getting very old. The fog was by far the worst it has been. We got on scene at 0520 and lines went in. The fog was so thick that I could not see the 2 long riggers or the center rigger. The bite started off pretty quick for some other boats and we just couldn't get the bite. Finally the right short rigger gets hit. No joy. Corey is on it working his magic and the fish comes back, no joy. He keeps at it and the fish piles on it a third time. No joy. We keep at it and 20 mins latter the center rigger goes off hard and the reel is dumping good and all of sudden we come undone. Pulled hook. 0 for 2. Not good. I do not like to start my day like this. We get back at it and finally the long corner goes off, "Red Iquana" bar, and we are tight. Fish On!!! We switch out anglers because the fish is a pig and soon the second guy has the fish under control and we get two gaffs into the fish and he is ours. The spread goes out while we have the fish tied off to the stern and the center rigger goes down and we are tight again. We tag and release this fish at 66 inches and back on the troll we go. For the next hour we get bit and we fight fish. We release 2 more fish one at 62 inches and another at 66 inches. Now we are at 4 for 6 and the day is made and the slack hasn't even started yet. Wow! We go for another hour when again the long corner gets bit and this fish is kicking some ass. We spend a good 30 mins. on him and he is straight up and down. We finally break his spirit and up on the deck he comes and tapes out at 69 inches and very fat. Quick tag and we swim him and he is released. 5 fish for 7 bites and over 500lbs of tuna on the deck and out the door. Great day and what a ton of fish we marked and saw on the surface. We are shore side in the morning for oil change and gear work and we are booked through the weekend. I have this Thursday the 6th open if anyone wants to get in on this bite. The fish are really moving in out east and in big numbers. Call the shop if you want to book a trip at 508-240-0778 Good luck. Capt. Eric
