Anybody putting his hand in front of a Mako's mouth that is vertical in the water is looking to be called Stumpy.
One flick otf that tail and he's got your hand or your face for lunch. Seems those discovery and other nature show guys do some pretty foolish things people think are cool right up till they get eatin. ![]()

Tonic immobilty....the tip of the snout is filled with receptors for smell, vibration and electrical sensing. When you put your hand on them it basically causes a sensory overload to the limited processing capacity of the sharks brain. When you do it to a blue shark, you will see the nictitating membrane roll over the eyes, makos don't have that membrane. I would not advise playing this game with makos....

John....thanks. I'm still debating were to go. I prefer Atlantis and there is a slight temp break near West Atlantis, however Middlegrounds still looks to have the best break. Unfortunately there will probably be 100 other boats in that area on a Saturday. There are a lot of good BFT reports your way. Catch em up, get yourselves ready for next week trip to the edge.
Don't pet the makos... Will |

Going by the title, thought maybe it was the conversation that lulled her to sleep.
It's a slick trick and photo

Was this picture preceded by one of the following statements???
1) Hey Y'all watch this! or 2) Here, Hold my beer! or 3) I saw the Crocodile Hunter do this!

Looks like a small blue to me too. I thought tonic mobilty was when you laid the fish on its back.
