    Tackle?!

Let's hear from all of you custom rod builders, lure makers, fly tiers, and anyone who can make me a good spinning reel. Looking to share tips or give tips and check out some cool pictures. Maybe we need a tackle and related forum. You know a place to ask questions or a spot where we can ***** about how our reels suck! Yeh I have reel troubles like Johns motors. Sorry John, bad subject!

If you'd stop droppin 'em in the water, you wouldn't have a reel problems!!
Sorry Trap, couldn't resist bringing that up
I was in TD yesterday playing with that saltiga, NICE, but don't think I'd spend the $$$$$ on one...I'd pick up another sustain or stella on ebay.

I think the gearing in the Saltiga is better than the Stella, I think. If you're gonna drop 6 bills retail for a reel what the heck is another $100? I'm thinking of going back to stradics and just buying every 6-12months. And sell it on ebay what ever someone will pay for a beat reel!

It doesn't seem to matter how much I take them down and grease them. Montauk destroys everything! My anti-reverse just blew on my sustain 6000 last weekend! And parkers 21 6000 locked up, and his 5000 looks like beach inside with salt flat on top!
    Cya tomorrow afternoon

I found out today that my anti reverse bearing cost 25 bucks. What a rip!

Yeah, but think about when it's time to send it in for service! Turn around time on a stella is 2 days! I've heard terrible things about diawa service. I set on getting a new 6000 sustain for that 10 footer. Just tear it down 2 times a year and lube/clean everything, their so simple to take apart a monkey could do it.
The only reel that will hold up to the dunkings in Montauk would be the van stall. But service is slow, they aren't silky smooth like the stella, and you're paying 600+ bucks for something made by zebco!

EVERY TIME I GO OUT I WASH AND CLEAN AND OIL MY REELS IT TAKES TIME BUT I DON'T HAVE TO SEND THEM TO REPAIR AS MUCH.

Yeah I take mine apart to bare bones. I clean and oil the bearings except the antireverse and grease all the gears. It helps tremendosly (spelling?) but it doesn't last long. My worm gear is stopping at the top and the handle spinning backwards.

Maybe I got a lemon, becasue I had drag issues when it was new. I'm very picky with my gear and want the best so it lasts but it doesn't seem to matter how much you pay. I think that Stella wouldn't go more than a year in Montauk. Maybe for the average fisher, but I fish hard everyweek all in the salt.

I;m hoping this new avet spinning reel has my answers!
