    SW Corner

Played north of the corner and on the corner itself yesterday. A pretty honest effort yeilded nadda. I guess a couple were seen and I did mark a little as well so maybe not as bleak a scene as felt yesterday. I need to see one hooked to feel better. Little ones were seen out east and a PH so if that is your thing, you can have at it.

I fished the SWC and notch saturday as my new resolution this year is to fish one spot and stay to save fuel.

Dead as a doornail. No bait, no birds, no whales and marked 1 tuna. The wind and weather forecast was completely wrong to boot.

Skippy is correct. We saw the tuna mixed in with the bass yesterday and had a few fish come up 40' feet away as were were getting the kite bait out yeasterday. 60" class fish. Its starting, but off to a slow start. No love for us yesterday. back at it end of the week.

    Same Sh*t, Different Day

We were out there on Saturday afternoon: trolled from SEC along the southern edge to SWC, and then around the notch up to the BE. Saw a few birds working around the highflyers on our way across to the SEC, and then later a ton of bait (sea herring) balled up north of the notch with working birds, but alas no Charlie whatsoever either on the surface or marked below.

same here, fished above the SWC with more live bait than I knew what to do with, turns out all I would need is 2 live mackerel and I would have been fine for the day. nothing, no birds, 1 whale, wentover a pile of cod and that was it.

guess we made the right decision....

Not to rub it in, but we steamed up from Sesuit Sunday morning getting up past Race Point at around 7:30am and saw an ENORMOUS flock of birds on the radar and binoculars working over PHB (plus a decent sized fleet of boats). We figured it was bass but trolled some bars as we got up close -- sure enough we quickly had a good size striper hooked on the squid bar. We released 2 and made the tough call to stay inside the 3-mile limit and fish the stripers as we could see it was just a huge school feeding on the surface - stretching out for 1/2 mile and heading east around the backside.

It was hard putting all the tuna gear away, but catching bass like that on light tackle is so much fun. We fished the school for the next 3 hours quickly limiting out on 6 fish 36"-40" and releasing all the rest until our arms and backs were giving out. It was a good chance to try out all my swimming and popping lures - they all worked!

We ended up dragging bars from P-town to the fishing ledge with a couple of very solid marks, but not even a whiff. We saw 4 stick boats out, and someone fishing a green stick (except it was white), but didn't hear of any landings. Surely someone must have hooked up somewhere?
