Suing The People Who Are Trying To Ruin The Bluefin Fishery

It would be nice if we could collectively raise some funds, and sue the people who have dropped the ball. I had a talk with Len Belcaro from the BGJ...the payoffs and corrupt illegalities go way beyond what you guys(including me) are seeing. Someone needs to be SUED. I would GLADLY contribute funds to a litigation program aimed at the right people. I think its time to go beyond the letters and meetings as well. The real question remains the same, which one of these "good" organizations is filing a lawsuit? Does anyone know?

Yep, if there is that stuff going on, sue em!

Shouldnt ABFTA be the orginziation that brings the suit agnst them.

There has to be a Harvard trained lawer up in your neck of the woods that also has an interest in all this?

Maybe if you could find one you could run it up the flag pole and get an idea of costs so a fund rasing drive has a target.

I am in for a few bucks for the cause

I am in on the contribution for legal representation, but wonder why this should not get the attention of a US Attorney if there is reason to believe that any inappropriate actions have occurred.

I honestly think we all got blind sided by this...literally sucker punched by a very calculated dirty pool faced opponent and it pisses me off that at the winter meeting I went to in Boston, the hosts informed us that "there's nothing we can do" "everything is in motion" "we can provide opinions" but we need more than opinions. Were a group of angry and disorganized fishermen in scramble mode right now. I honestly dont know what will "really" help. Obviously letters and spreading awareness cant hurt, but we should strike back and hit hard with a law suit. Think about this for a second...every fishermen contributes 20 bucks(thats a few beers). 10,000 guys..200 grand...and thats just up here. Thats the kind of money that will be needed to start something. Id love to fire a shot back. I'm going to talk more with Len B at BGJ and Greg Skomal(dept of marine fisheries) because I have heard some staggering stuff about whats going on behind the scenes and if its really true..someone should be held responsible. Ive taken enough financial hits to wake me up..thats for sure. Charter fishing for bluefin is going to be a sad reality...as is the tackle industry if this keeps up. Fuel prices are bad enough. Meetings ..letters..posts...nice..I say LAWSUIT

So instead of throwing your money into the hands of organizations because they "seem" to be doing good, do your homework first. I heard some stuff about some of these entities mentioned on a few related posts that threw me for a loop. Im not going to jump to conclusions, but once I have a better understanding I wont hesitate at all to share what I know.

i like were your going cappy d im in. seems like all we do is sit back and wait for them to throw the first punch. i think these people attacking the bluefin fishery are smoking weed behind a desk all day, then moving a few numbers around and calling it good.

Are you ready for this? It DID gain the interest of a US attorney...Victor Yannacone..who founded the Environmental Defense Fund...the very organization that is now working to allocate fish shares to corporations. He has been in direct contact with Len Belcaro. He is an environmental attorney...a very high powered and expensive one at that, but a smart individual who sees the hypocrisy here. The environmental groups are simply trying to privatize fish quotas and take what should be a public resource and turn it into a privatized market for people/companies willing to pay for the catch shares. If you dont know what catch shares are...you need to learn what they are NOW. Their whole campaign started with first creating awareness by spending 140 million dollars on a campaign to send the media into an anti fishing campaign..remember the news flashes and articles a few years ago? It worked! I remember my x wife giving me **** because she thought the oceans were depleted! Then after creating their awareness, they launched this "campaign"...using OUR MONEY..taxpayers money to fund their propaganda. Jane has approached congress to try and get tens of millions of dollars! What they are doing is insane. Theres a MUCH BIGGER PICTURE HERE and people need to wake up and see it before its too late.

They are in direct violation of the RICO statutes(raqueteering and Influence of Corrupt Organizations. How would you feel about having to BUY your individual fish quota from WALMART. Go to www.fishtruth.net and learn about what is happening here. Anyone who thinks she is acting because of preservation is a fool. She wants to regulate the oceans so that ALL FISHING IS PRIVATIZED. Forget about bluefin...you wont even be able to catch a summer flounder without having to purchase a fishing quota "catch share" from a major corporation. She is being funded by The WALTON Foundation...its giving MILLIONS into this campaign...MILLIONS...and guess who the walton foundation is...WALMART.

This attorney, Victor Yannacone, founded the EDF and now hes absolutely disgusted by the organizations conduct. I dont know if he would take on the case, but someone has to. We need an attorney who knows about RICO statutes and the RIGHTS OF Sovereignty. We the people are being SCREWED and deceived.

Do you guys want Individual Fishing Quotas? Because thats whats coming..and at the cost of YOU. Research the MILKEN Institute if you have time...mind boggling. The public needs to smell this rat up close. Bottom line is people are going to have to organize. If anyone knows a good environmental attorney...a good place to start. Its going to take several class action lawsuits to pull this off.

Just curious if you are thinking of suing for an ESA listing or a reduction in quota?

Reduction in quota was an ICCAT thing that the feeble U.S. representatives failed once again. Has the U.S. sent my drunk neighbor to these meetings for the last 25 years? They get their balls handed to them every single time.

Litigation is very expensive, $200,000 would go real quick. Its not a bad idea but very complicated. What I believe needs to happen is more of all of you guys need to get off you asses and start attending these meetings. None of this is directed at anyone in particular, but everybody's got an opinion and loves to ***** about all this stuff on the internet, but how many of you showed up to the meeting in Boston?

We all as a group need to band together and start taking action by attending meetings, making phone call, writing letters, protesting etc. By not getting involved makes you just a big a part of the problem as the idiots making these rules. The turn out at the Boston meeting earlier this winter was well attended, but it was almost 90% commercial fishermen. I support both recreational and commercial fishermen, I was severely disappointed by the lack of representation by the recreational Bluefin guys!!! The turn out in NJ was abysmal!!! If you do not start letting your voices be heard we are going to loose everything!!! Commercial, recreational everything.

GET UP, GET OUT, GET INVOLVED or take up golf because this is where all this $hit is heading.
